Sabawi Ibrahim al-Hasan al-Tikriti
The Iraqi Government announced on February 27, 2005, that Sabawi Ibrahim Al-Tikriti/Sabawi Ibrahim al-Hasan al-Tikriti had been taken into custody. Several months prio, the Iraqi interim government had fingered him as one former Ba'ath Party member involved in directing the Iraqi insurgency.
He was a member of the Ba'ath Party and Saddam Hussein's half-brother through his maternal side. In addition, he was an advisor to Saddam. Sabawi is one of three of Saddam's half-brothers (both share the same mother). A reward of one million dollars had reportedly been offered for his capture.
No details were initially made available by the Iraqi authorities, though the Associated Press was reported to have pointed Syrian involvement in the capture.
