FOB Hit
FOB Hit is located near the west bank of the Euphrates River near the city of Hit (pronounced "HEET"), Iraq, approximately 30 miles northwest of Ramadi.
On base as of late September, 2005, conditions were more difficult as compared to other FOBs. Soldiers have reported that they have no running water, no hard buildings, only tents. Apparently, while there is some food cooked for them Soldiers often are only eating MREs and are actually having to burn their human waste . The base has only 3-4 computers so email time is rare.
Marines have organized potable water distribution, provided hot showers, electricity, heat, and coordinated laundry for the personnel on FOB Hit.
