Al Taqaddum is one of the few Iraqi air bases not inside the "No-Fly Zone."

Al Taqaddum is served by two runways measuring 13,000 and 12,000 feet respectively.

There are at least 24 aircraft dispersal revetments and hardened aicraft shelters on the south side of the base.

A search team discovers a MiG-25 Foxbat buried beneath the sands in Iraq. Several MiG-25 interceptors and Su-25 ground attack jets have been found buried at Al-Taqqadum air field west of Baghdad.
