41 Artillery Division

At a solemn ceremony in April 2002, Lt Gen GS Sihota, GOC-in-C marked the raising of 41 Artillery Division by presenting Maj Gen RS Jambusarwalla, MG, Artillery, Southern Command a trophy. With the raising of the Artillery Division, a long-felt need of synergised fire-power for Southern Command had been fulfilled.

Southern Command Handball Championship-2006 was conducted at the Chaudhry Indoor Stadium, MEG & Centre, Bangalore. ATNK & K Area won the championship defeating MG & G Area by 10 goals. A total of 10 teams namely, ATNK & Area, MG & G Area, 12 Corps, 36 Infantry Division, 31 Armoured Division, 54 Infantry Division, 12 Rapid, 11 Infantry Division, 21 Corps and 41 Artillery Division participated in the tournament.

The 41 Artillery Division in Pune celebrated their seventh raising day on 02 April 2008 with enthusiasm and multitude of activities. Since its raising, the Division has grown from strength to strength and, today, it is the pride of Indian Army. The Division's impeccable record was showcased during the recently conducted exercise Dakshin Shakti and Brazen Chariots carried out in the deserts of Rajasthan. The raising day celebrations commenced with all ranks of the Division gathering for a joint mandir parade followed by a special sainik sammelan addressed by Maj Gen OP Soni, GOC of the Division. He emphasised the need for every soldier to keep himself updated on the latest technological advancement in the backdrop of the latest modernisation drive being undertaken in the Artillery. He also complimented all ranks of the Division for the high order of professional ethics displayed in their work. The other events included a pagal gymkhana and barakhana. The gunner inmates of the Paraplagic Rehabilitation Centre also participated in the celebrations. A gathering for serving and retired officers of all Arms and Services was hosted at Agnibaaz Officers Mess which was graced by Lt Gen N Thamburaj, GOC-in-C Southern Command. A short film on the might of the young formation was screened for the august audience during the function. The first GOC, Maj Gen (Retd) J S Jamboosarwala and Maj Gen BV Nair, the fourth GOC, were also present during the celebrations.
