Aragón

In 1980 July the Navy of the United States transferred to the Spanish Navy the ship of Aragón disembarkation (L-22). Its fundamental mission is to transport a disembarkation force (composed by a maximum of 1,500 men and women) until a hostile coast. It can also act like control ship, with an embarked General Staff to the complete one. The Aragón has capacity to load, in different combinations, seven landing crafts LCM-6 for material, five LCVP for light personal/vehículos and three LCP for personnel. In addition Bell 212 counts on a platform of helicopters for airships of the Augusta type. With an autonomy of 17,000 miles to 13 knots, he can remain in the sea during 35 days without touching port and transporting up to 4,000 tons of load.
