In addition to being single-fuel compliant(diesel/JP8),it has a drastically reduced noise signature and vastly improved reliability and supportability. While the 3 notch visor provides additional laser protection as compared to the 2 notch visor, it is too dark to be used at night. This item is currently being fielded with the HGU-56/P Helmet. |

| Aircrew Microclimatic Conditioning System (AMCS) | PM, ACIS | PEO, AV | EMD | III | The AMCS reduces heat stress of aircrew members during operations in MOPP IV, even during hot/humid conditions. Cooling capacity is sufficient to remove 200 watts of metabolic heat produced per crew member. The system is an aircraft mounted, aircraft powered cooler which circulates chilled water through liquid cooled undergarments to remove body heat. Three systems under development include a generic 4-crewmember system, a generic 2-crewmember system and a 2-crewmember system specifically designed for the OH-58D aircraft. Development is complete. No production planned except as an option as part of the still to be determined Air Warrior ensemble. |

Containers will have a single point release system which allows the container and leg tiedown straps to be released simultaneously. Accuracy is improved through the use of no-load detent bolts in the launch pods to reduce launch tip off errors and a launcher-mounted meteorological sensor to provide updated wind data to the fire control computer. The shortened payload section will house new XM85 Dual Purpose Improved Conventional Munition grenades equipped with electronic self-destruct fuzes to reduce hazardous duds for improved maneuver force safety.
