   1.  MISSION.
       A.  THE HEADQUARTERS PROVIDES COMMAND, CONTROL, AND
   SUPERVISION OF THE OPERATIONS OF THE TANK BATTALION AND
   ATTACHED UNITS.
       B.  THE HEADQUARTERS COMPANY PROVIDES ADMINISTRATION
   AND LOGISTICAL SUPPORT FOR THE BATTALION STAFF SECTIONS.
   IT ALSO PROVIDES INDIRECT MORTAR SUPPORT, RECONNAISSANCE,
   UNIT ADMINISTRATION, AND LOGISTICAL SUPPORT TO ORGANIC AND
   ATTACHED UNITS OF THE BATTALION.
   2.  ASSIGNMENT.  ORGANIC TO TANK BATTALION, TOE 17375L000.
   3.  CAPABILITIES.
       A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT PROVIDES:
           (1) COMMAND, CONTROL, STAFF PLANNING, AND
   SUPERVISION OF OPERATIONS OF ORGANIC AND ATTACHED ELEMENTS
   OF THE TANK BATTALION.
           (2) AN INDIRECT FIRE CAPABILITY TO DELIVER SMOKE,
   ILLUMINATION, AND HIGH EXPLOSIVE FIRES FOR ASSIGNED AND
   ATTACHED UNITS.
           (3) RECONNAISSANCE SUPPORT FOR BATTALION
   OPERATIONS.
           (4)  BATTALION RESUPPLY SUPPORT.
           (5) FOOD SERVICE SUPPORT FOR ORGANIC PERSONNEL
   AND ATTACHED UNITS.
           (6) UNIT LEVEL COMBAT HEALTH SERVICES SUPPORT TO
   INCLUDE, EMERGENCY MEDICAL TREATMENT, EVACUATION OF
   PATIENTS TO THE BATTALION AID STATION, OPERATION OF
   BATTALION AID STATION, AND COMBAT MEDICAL SPECIALISTS TO
   THE TANK COMPANIES.
           (7) RECOVERY AND MAINTENANCE FOR ALL EQUIPMENT
   ORGANIC TO THE BATTALION, EXCEPT COMSEC EQUIPMENT.
           (8) UNIT ADMINISTRATION, RELIGIOUS SERVICES, AND
   LOGISTICAL SUPPORT TO ASSIGNED AND ATTACHED UNITS.
           (9) SUPPLEMENTAL TRANSPORTATION FOR ORGANIC AND
   ATTACHED UNITS OF THE TANK BATTALION.
       B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE
   FOR REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%,
   FROM APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2 TO APPROXIMATELY 80%
   FOR LEVEL 3.
       C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO TYPE B ORGANIZATION.
       D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVELS 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
   DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED IN AR

       B.  THIS UNIT HAS 494,284 POUNDS (18,578 CUBIC FEET) OF
   TOE EQUIPMENT REQUIRING TRANSPORTATION.
       C.  THIS UNIT REQUIRES 100 PERCENT OF ITS TOE
   EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES TO BE TRANSPORTED IN A SINGLE LIFT

1.  GENERAL.

        (1) TOE 17376C000 is to replace 17376L000 as the
            Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Tank
            Battalion.
        (2) This version of the TOE has been prepared in
            accordance with the provisions of current TOE
            development regulations and guidance.
        (3) All equipment readiness codes (ERCs) in this TOE
            have been reviewed to ensure strict compliance with
            criteria in AR 220-1, Unit Status Reporting.
        (4) The unit MARC Code is 21A.  This is a tactical and
            administrative headquarters that operates in the
            Division area.  It is considered a mobile unit and
            moves frequently.
2.  EMPLOYMENT.
    The Headquarters and Headquarters Company operates as a
    tactical and administrative headquarters. The headquarters
    company is employed in or near the battalion headquarters to
    support the functions of command, control, and supervision
    of operating elements. Elements of the headquarters operate
    the communications center, the aid station , and the
    logistical facilities of the battalion. These elements are
    located in various locations in the battle area according
    to the mission and situation.
3.  METHODS OF OPERATIONS AND FUNCTIONS.
    a.  PARAGRAPH 01,  COMMAND SECTION
        (1)  Functions. To provide the battalion units with the
             command, control, planning, supervision,
             administrative and logistical support required to
             conduct operations. To accomplish this function the
             Battalion Commander is assisted by an Executive
             Officer (XO) who supervises the staff activities; a
             Command Sergeant Major (CSM); the coordinating
             staff consisting of an S1, S2, S3, S4, and a
             special staff comprised of a maintenance officer, a
             communications eletronics officer (CE), a chaplain,
             a tank commander, a gunner, two tank crewmen and
             two vehicle drivers.

             ammunition sergeant, seven petroleum heavy vehicle
             operators, two petroleum light vehicle operators,
             two heavy vehicle drivers, three vehicle drivers,
             a decontamination specialist and six assistant
             vehicle drivers.

             assisted by a physician assistant, three treatment
             NCO's and three medical specialists.

             maintenance technician is assisted by a senior
             maintenance supervisor.

        (1)  Function. Maintenance of the Army Maintenance
             Management System (TAMMS), the requisition,
             storeage, and distribution of repair parts and the
             maintenance of prescribed load list (PLL) of repair
             parts for each company. To accomplish these
             functions the section is comprised of two equipment
             records/parts NCO's and four specialist's.

             an M-1 tank maintenance supervisor, a senior
             mechanic, seven light wheel vehicle mechanics, a
             power-generator equipment repairer, two M-1 tank
             system mechanics, two QM & chemical equipment
             repairers, four heavy wheeled vehicle mechanics,
             seven BFVS mechanics.

             UMCP. Support encompasses automotive, turret, and
             CE maintenance. To accomplish this mission each
             team is comprised of an M-1 tank maintenance
             supervisor, an M-1 tank systems mechanic, three
             M-1 tank turret mechanics, three M-1 tank
             automotive mechanics, and two recovery vechicle
             operators.
