Iran deplores NATO intervention in Afghanistan creating crisis

Dushanbe, March 26, IRNA -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday deplored NATO intervention in Afghanistan as the root-cause of the current humanitarian crisis in the country.
President Ahamdinejad made the remarks in the fifth Afghan economic confab in presence of presidents of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tajikistan in the capital city of Dushanbe.
The current turmoil in Afghanistan is the practical example of policy-making by those claiming leadership of the international community, he said.
He said that the same policy-making is responsible for the current situation in Palestine along with other countries in the South American region and Asia subject to the so-called leadership of the global powers.
NATO members seek to dominate the entire world under the guise of international campaign against terrorism, said the Iranian president.
He said that NATO intervention in Afghanistan, Pakistan and the region led to spread of insecurity throughout the region.
To resolve the issue, the US should revise its wrong approaches and respect the legitimate rights of all nations and avoid humiliating others, he said.
Ahmadinejad said that they should accept that the era of imperialism now over.
'There is no doubt that after withdrawal of NATO forces national campaign to stem poppy cultivation and drug-trafficking as well as the campaign against terrorism will be intensified in Afghanistan.'
He said that the world seeks new world order based on respect to legitimate rights of all nations and that justice must prevail over the international community.
He said that the great Afghan nation has always remained committed to the principled values and opposed to hegemonic powers.
Afghanistan is full of potential human resources who can reconstruct their own country, said the Iranian president.
'There is no doubt that Afghan people with reliance upon their rich culture and civilization can conquer all problems and create a prosperous future for themselves.'
He made it clear that it is an obligation for the neighboring countries to help Afghanistan through various supports and programs.
President Ahmadinejad reaffirmed commitment of the the Islamic Republic of Iran to back Afghan reconstruction drive.
