SECKENHEIM, Germany - The U.S. Army Test, Measurement, Diagnostic and Equipment Activity Region Europe has successfully executed the relocation of a large fixed-site TMDE support center from Conn Barracks Annex in Schweinfurt to a newly renovated facility more than 60 miles away at Stork Barracks in Illesheim.
Some U.S. military operations are scheduled to relocate to the Ansbach and Illesheim areas, including the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, necessitating nearby TMDE support.
"By moving the TMDE support center to Illesheim, the organization will be able to provide quick and efficient support for the increased number of mission critical equipment moving to the area," said Paul Adams, the director of TMDE Region Europe.
Due to an extremely thorough transition plan, TMDE Region Europe was able to execute its relocation with only a minimum of disruption to services provided to units.
"Our transition was flawless due to our two-month implementation process," Adams explained. "We began coordination with our major customers in the Schweinfurt area in early February and executed an early calibration and return of projected equipment. By April 2 and 3, we moved to the new shop and prepared for operations, including re-establishing verified traceability and required communications. On April 6, we accepted the first item from the first customer in the new location, only four days after we moved into the building."
Although the TMDE facility is no longer located in Schweinfurt, Army units in the Schweinfurt area will be supported by the new center in Illesheim, which is now fully operational and ready to continue serving our Soldiers.
