| March 7, 2004 Release Number: 04-03-20 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 4th Infantry Division and Task Force Ironhorse operations TIKRIT, Iraq - 4th Infantry Division and Task Force Ironhorse conducted 182 patrols and seven raids and captured 27 individuals Saturday and Sunday. Fifty-four of the patrols were joint operations conducted with the Iraqi police, Iraqi Civil Defense Corps and Border Guard. Weapons and equipment confiscated in raids and patrols throughout the Task Force Ironhorse area of operations include four AK-47 assault rifles, two rocket-propelled grenade-launchers, two RPG rounds, two mortar rounds, one rocket, 30 cans of rocket fuel, one magnesium primer and two improvised explosive devices. 4th Infantry Division soldiers from 3rd Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment conducted a raid Saturday near As Sadah to capture two individuals suspected of preaching anticoalition messages. The individuals are being detained for questioning. 4th Infantry Division soldiers and the Iraqi Civil Defense Corps conducted a joint raid near Abu Karmah Saturday to capture several suspects responsible for emplacing IEDs. The soldiers captured five individuals who are being detained for questioning. Task Force Ironhorse soldiers conducted a joint raid with the Iraqi Police on an anti-Coalition forces' weapons cache southwest of Kirkuk Saturday. The soldiers confiscated 30 cans of rocket fuel and one magnesium primer. The cache was secured and later destroyed. Iraqi police conducted a raid Saturday near Hib Hib to capture Shiek Amir, an individual suspected in attacks against anticoalition forces. The police captured Sheik Amir and turned him over to 4th Infantry Division soldiers from the 588th Engineer Battalion and coalition forces for questioning. 4th Infantry Division soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment conducted a raid Saturday to capture individuals suspected of attacking coalition forces near Al Mansuriyah. The soldiers detained two individuals during the raid for questioning. Iraqi police reported a cache of rocket and mortar rounds to 4th Infantry Division soldiers from the 4th Battalion, 42nd Field Artillery Regiment near Ad Dawr Saturday. Soldiers from the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry conducted a patrol to investigate the cache and discovered four cylinders six to eight feet long that the police suspect were used to fire rockets. The tubes were confiscated and later destroyed. Acting on information provided by an Iraqi citizen, 4th Infantry Division soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment conducted a raid near Bayji Saturday to capture individuals suspected of an RPG attack in late January. Soldiers captured two individuals and confiscated one computer, one AK-47 and one loaded AK-47 magazine. The captured individuals were taken to a coalition detention center for questioning. The ICDC conducted a raid south of Ad Duluiyah Sunday to capture an individual suspected of conducting attacks against coalition forces. The individual suspected in the attacks was not captured, but the ICDC confiscated two RPG launchers, two RPG rounds, one 60 mm mortar round, one 82 mm mortar round and one 82 mm mortar carrying case.
