  • SUDAN / PEACE TALKS VOA 06 Jan 2004 -- Delegates and negotiators at the Sudan peace talks say the Sudanese government and the country's main rebel group have worked out details of how they will share wealth from the country's natural resources.   • Department of Defense Begins Gathering Data for BRAC 2005 06 Jan 2004 -- Today, the Department of Defense has requested commanders of installations in the United States, territories and possessions to gather information about their installations as part of the 2005 round of Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC). The department will use BRAC to reduce unnecessary infrastructure and to increase military capability and effectiveness.

  • PMA-299 Multi-Mission Helicopter Team awards MH-60 Common Cockpit multi-year contract NAVAIR Release 06 Jan 2004-- NAVAIR awarded Lockheed Martin Systems Integration (LMSI) in Owego, N.Y., a $423 million multi-year contract on Dec. 29, 2003 for the procurement and delivery of common cockpits for the MH-60R and MH-60S helicopters that will result in significant savings by combining four years of annual buys into one contract with an option for a fifth year. With the exercise of a fifth year option in fiscal 2009, the Navy expects to save up to $63.9 million.
  • NAVAIR Awards a Second Multi-year Procurement for F/A-18E/F and a SD&D Contract for the EA-18G NAVAIR Release 06 Jan 2004-- The NAVAIR F/A-18 Program announces it signed a second multi-year procurement contract for the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and a contract for system design and development (SD&D) of the EA-18G airborne electronic attack aircraft with the Boeing Company on December 29, 2003.
