| November 16, 2003 Release Number: 03-11-25 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Update to Release 03-11-23: 17 KILLED, 5 WOUNDED IN BLACK HAWK CRASHES IN MOSUL MOSUL, Iraq - Two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) crashed in western Mosul at approximately 6:30 p.m. Nov. 15. All soldiers involved in the accident were accounted for. Seventeen soldiers died in the crash and five were wounded. The casualty information in this release is an updated version of CENTCOM Release 03-11-23. The wounded soldiers were evacuated to the 21st Combat Support Hospital at the Mosul Airfield. The cause of the incident is under investigation. The soldiers' names are being withheld pending next-of-kin notification. -30- |
