(Secretary Powell believes airways are safe, Boucher says) (110) Following is the text of a statement by State Department spokesman Richard Boucher: (begin text) U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE Office of the Spokesman September 24, 2001 Statement By Richard Boucher, Spokesman LONDON'S DAILY MIRROR REPORT There is a report in today's London's Daily Mirror today that the Secretary might have advised members of his family not to travel by air. This report is not correct. The Secretary has given no such advice to his family or any others. He believes that the airways are safe and has encouraged family members to fly as appropriate to their travel plans.
