Navy Radio Transmitting Facility Totsuka

Navy Radio Transmitting Facility [NAVRADTRANSFAC / NRTF] Totsuka is the only Navy HF Facility on the Kanto Plain in Japan. NRTF Totsuka is located about 8 miles south of Atsugi (40 minutes by car). NRTF Totsuka is a small communications base near Yokohama, just down the road from Kamiseya [which includes personnel at NRRF, CSG, FOSIF, and NSGA]. In 1952 the US Navy set up a new Naval Communication Station in Totsuka, Japan. The Yokosuka NAVCOMTELSTA also operates a satellite radio receiving facility in Totsuka, and its mission is to maintain and operate communications equipment linking ship and shore stations in the Far East. In 1997 Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, San Diego completed on-site instrumented electromagnetic radiation hazard surveys to ensure that safety and compatibility guidelines were met at NAF Atsugi, NRTF Totsuka, NAVRADSTA Jim Creek, and for RSTER at PMRF and 15 other sites. In addition to NAF Atsugi, the ROICC also executes contracts for NSF Kamiseya, NRRTF Totsuka, ALF Kisarazu and MCB Camp Fuji. Patients from NAF Atsugi, NRTF Totsuka and NSF Kamiseya are seen for specialty care at Branch Dental Clinic, Yokosuka
