Firebase Anaconda located in Khas Uruzgan, the central part of Uruzgan province. It was home to a few dozen American soldiers as of August 2007, there also was an unknown number of Afghan soldiers stationed there.
On August 7, 2007 about 75 Taliban militants attempted to overrun Firebase Anaconda. The base was being hit on three sides by gunfire, grenades and 107mm rockets. Coalition forces were able to repel the attack with their own machine guns and mortars along with some close air support. At least 20 Taliban were killed, 2 Afghan soldiers along with 2 Afghan girls were wounded.
Less than a week later on August 11, 2007 Taliban militants again attacked Anaconda but were once again unable to inflict much damage. Several Taliban were reported killed in those incidences.
On August 30, 2007 the Taliban once again assaulted Firebase Anaconda using 72mm rockets, small arms and heavy weapons. Coalition forces repelled the attack and 11 Taliban were confirmed killed, 2 U.S. soldiers sustained minor injuries and were returned to duty soon after. According to a coalition spokesperson at least 74 Taliban were killed in failed attempts to overrun Firebase Anaconda with no major casualties reported by the coaltion or local civilians.
