18th Weather Squadron [18th WS]
The 18th Weather Squadron provides weather support to the Army's XVIII Airborne Corps, 18th Aviation Brigade, 82d Airborne Division, 82d Combat Aviation Brigade, and their units in garrison and in a tactical field environment.
The squadron trains and maintains readiness to deploy worldwide to support aviation and ground combat operations. It manages four geographically separated subordinate units.
The Commander, 18th WS, as Staff Weather Officer to XVIII Airborne Corps, controls all meteorological and oceanographic assets of the Corps and subordinate units (during wartime). The 18th WS commander also oversees support to the Military District of Washington, the US Army Transportation Center, US Army Armor School, and the US Army Aviation Center.
