6th Brigade, 84th Division (Institutional Training)
6th Brigade (Professional Development) is headquartered in Waukegan, IL. Its mission is to provide instruction in such subjects as Command and General Staff College, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, and NCOES Common Leader Training. 6th Brigade(Professional Development), 84th Division(IT), is the Non-Commissioned Officer Education System as well as the Officer Education system under the The Army School System (TASS). This Brigade is responsible for all NCOES and OES conducted within Region E. Region E is comprised of six states. Those states are: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.
The Brigade has three subordinate units and one direct reporting unit. Those elements that make up the command are: Headquarters 6th Bde(PD), Waukegan, IL; 12th Bn (CGSC), Columbus, OH; 13th Bn (CAS3), Harvey, IL; 14th Bn (NCOES); NCOA-McCoy, Fort McCoy, WI. Training sites are located within commuting distance of all students serviced by this command. The exception to this is NCOES, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course and Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course taught at the NCOA-McCoy, Ft. McCoy and the RTIs because of the live-in requirements for NCOES.
HQ's 6th Brigade (Professional Development), located at 1721 North McAree Road, Waukegan, IL, is responsible for Soldier Professional Development courses within Region E. This includes the Officer Education System and the Non-Commissioned Officer Education System. Courses taught by this command consist of Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC), Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course (BNCOC), Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course (ANCOC), First Sergeant Course (FSC), Total Army Instructor Training Course (TAITC), Small Group Instructor Training Course (SGITC), Battle Staff NCO Course (BSNCOC), Combined Arms and Services Staff School (CAS3), Command and General Staff Officer Course (CGSOC).
The 6th Brigade, 84th Division (Training) was constituted 16 November 1996 in the Army Reserve as Headquarters, 6th Brigade, 84th Division (Training), and activated at Waukegan, Illinois.
