HHB - 18th Field Artillery Brigade
The mission of HHB, 18th Field Artillery Brigade is to support the 18th Field Artillery Brigade Headquarters element in deploying designated artillery packages within 18-hours, and associated follow on forces by air, land, sea to deliver conventional artillery fires in support of XVIII Airborne Corps contingency missions.
The unit deploys with the brigade in order to provide command, control and support for up to six battalions.
HHB, 18th Field Artillery Brigade (Airborne) began its history when it was constituted and activated in 1943 as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, XVIII Corps Artillery. The Battery's campaign participation in World War II included Rhineland in 1944, Ardennes-Alsace and Central Europe in 1945. The Battery was inactivated at Camp Campbell in 1945 after the war.
In 1951 the Battery was redesignated and activated as HHB, Airborne Corps Artillery and allotted to the Regular Army at Fort Bragg, NC. The battery was again reorganized and redesignated in 1978 as HHB, 18th Field Artillery Brigade.
In 1990, the battery was called upon to deploy to Southwest Asia where it participated in the Defense of Saudi Arabia and Liberation and Defense of Kuwait campaigns.
