17th Psychological Operations Battalion

The 17th Psychological Operations Battalion was originally constituted on 30 December 1954 in the Army Reserve as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 306th Radio Broadcasting and Leaflet Battalion. It activated on 1 February 1955 at San Pedro, CA.

It reorganized and was redesignated on 1 June 1960 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 306th Psychological Warfare Battalion.

The unit was reorganized and redesignated once agagin on 1 December 1965 as the 306th Psychological Operations Battalion.

The battalion relocated on 30 November 1982 to Los Alamitos, CA where it inactivated 17 September 1990 at Los Alamitos, CA. It was redesignated on 16 June 1996 as Headquarters, Headquarters and Service Company, 17th Psychological Operations Battalion, and activated at Joliet, IL (its organic elements were concurrently constituted and activated).
