178th Engineer Battalion

National Guard troops numbering 300, from the 122nd and 178th Engineer Battalions helped with the recovery effort following the aftermateh of Hurricane Fran in North Carolina, providing dump truck and earth moving equipment.

The 178th Engineer BN was activated in February 2003 and was sent to the Persian Gulf region sometime in April 2003 to support Operation Iraqi Freedom.
