Charlie Company - 159th Aviation Regiment

C Company, 159th Aviation Regiment was originally constituted on 23 September 1942 as the 2037th Quartermaster Company at Walla Walla, WA.

The unit was redesignated as the 196th Aviation Company (ASH) on 4 May 1966 and began operating the CH-47A unit in July of that same year. In January of 1967, the unit deployed to Vietnam to provide combat medium helicopter airlift.

In February 1971, the 196th Aviation Company relocated Fort Bragg, NC. Assigned on 1 September 1987, to the 218th Medium Helicopter Battalion, the 196th Aviation Company was redesignated the following year as Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment.

The unit deployed in support of Operation Just Cause and Operation Desert Shield/Storm.

Following the inactivation of the 2nd Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment, in September 1996, the unit was redesignated as C Company, 159th Aviation Regiment, and assigned to the 18th Aviation Brigade (Corps) (Airborne).

The primary mission of C Company, 159th Aviation Regiment is to provide worldwide medium airlift capability in support of the 18th Airborne Corps.
