When directed, the 125th Military Intelligence Battalion conducts Intelligence and Electronic Warfare (IEW) operations in support of the 25th Infantry Division (Light).
The 125th Military Intelligence Battalion (Combat Electronic Warfare Intelligence) traces its history back to 10 August 1944 when the 25th Counterintelligence Corps detachment was activated at New Caledonia. The detachment provided intelligence support to the 25th Infantry Division in the Pacific Theater and received the Phillipine Presidential Unit Citation for its efforts during the last year to World War II.
Following a period of Post War Activities, the Unit was reactivated for duty in support of the 25th Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict. The Meritorious Unit Commendation was awarded for intelligence support to the 25th Infantry Division. The 25th Counterintelligence Corps Detachment returned to Schofield Barracks and was redesignated as the 25th Military Intelligence Detachment in 1958. On 11 May 1962, the 372nd Army Security Agency (ASA) Company was activated as Alpha Company in the 303rd ASA Battalion. It was redesignated the 372nd ASA Company in 1966.
Both the 25th Military Intelligence Detachment and the 372nd ASA Company deployed to Vietnam. Upgraded as the 25th Military Intelligence Company, the Unit was awarded four Meritorious Unit Comendations, two awards of the Vietnamese Cross of Gallentry with Palm and the Vietnamese Civic Action Medal First Class. After five years of involvement in the Vietnam Conflict, participating in over ten major counter-offenses and after receiving five meritourious unit comendations, four Vietnamese Crosses of Gallantry and one Vietnamese Civil Action Honor Medal, the 372nd ASA Company was inactivated in March of 1971.
The 25th Military Intelligence Company and the 372nd ASA Companies were reactivated after redeployment from Vietnam and merged to form the 125th Military Intelligence Battalion (CEWI) on 16 June 1983.
