2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion
"One Fight, One Team! "
The 2nd Special Troops Battalion (STB) was activated at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, in 2004. The 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion is formed of 5 companies that include Headquarters & Headquarters Company for 2 BCT, Headquarters & Headquarters Company for the Battalion, a Combat Engineer company, a Military Intelligence company, and a Signal company.
The concept that founded the STB was one of a modular Army. The STB provided organic support to the Brigade Combat Team (BCT) which had previously been controlled through habitual attachments assigned at the Divisional level.
The STB offers the Brigade Commander a variety of adaptive support options. The capabilities of the STB encompass the whole breadth of military operations. The Engineers are direct-action combatants who additionally offer the BCT mobility, counter-mobility, and survivability support. The soldiers of the Military Intelligence Company provide timely, relevant, and accurate intelligence and electronic warfare capabilities of the commander and facilitate the planning and operations of the entire BCT. The Signalers provide consistent, seamless, secure, and dynamic information systems and communications networks to allow the Brigade Commander to have real-time command and control of the situation.
