ROC Central News Agency
Taipei, April 18 (CNA) A Taiwanese businessman based in China was questioned by Taiwan's Investigation Bureau on Wednesday on suspicion of spying for China, officials said.
The suspect, surnamed Cheng, might be handed over to prosecutors for further questioning, the officials added.
Investigators from the Taipei District Prosecutors Office, led by Hsiao Fang-chou, obtained warrants and searched Cheng's company and residence in Tainan City, southern Taiwan.
Another individual was also summoned for questioning, but as a witness, officials said.
Officials said the investigators have been collecting evidence following a tip-off that Cheng had been recruited by China as a spy.
