The facility was struck on 25 May 2011 using four 1,000-pound Enhanced Paveway II bombs dropped by a Typhoon FGR4 and five 500-pound Paveway IV bombs dropped by the Tornado GR4. This marked a first for both aircraft.

According to coalition officials, the Tiji facility had supported pro-regime attacks on the civilian population in the Jebel Nafusa region, South-West of Libya's capital of Tripoli.

While the mission had originally been intended to strike only eight points, a ninth was reportedly added based on information received during the mission.
